Hollowcore doors

Hollowcore doors are made with honeycomb-like cardboard or other lightweight materials, with a thin veneer of plywood or similar on the outer surface.

Features and benefits:

  • Lightweight
  • Cost-effective
  • Easy to install

Common applications:

Hollowcore doors are typically used in residential and commercial interiors where soundproofing and insulation performance are not a major requirement. This includes areas such as:

  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Closets

Solidcore doors

Solidcore doors are made with a solid core of HMR (high moisture resistant) particleboard core. As a result, they are heavier, more durable, and provide better sound insulation and security when compared with Hollowcore doors.

Features and benefits:

  • High levels of sound insulation
  • Durability and resistance to wear and tear in high-traffic areas
  • Improved security

Common applications:

Solidcore doors are commonly used in both residential and commercial applications where soundproofing, durability, and a higher level of privacy are important. This includes areas such as:

  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Doors in communal, high-traffic areas

Blockboard doors

Blockboard doors are constructed with a core of wooden blocks, set within either a plywood or EXP external primed skin. Blockboard doors provide a good middle-ground option for builders, developers or installers looking for a balance between cost, durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Features and benefits:

  • Strength and durability in high-traffic areas
  • Lighter weight compared to solid wood or solidcore doors
  • Cost effective
  • Easier installation

Common applications:

  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Storage and utility rooms
  • Service rooms
  • Laundry doors
  • Common area doors

Ultimacore doors

Ultimacore doors are made of high-density composite materials, like polyfoam, with a medium-density fibreboard skin. They provide good levels of durability, acoustic performance, and insulation.

Features and benefits:

  • A dense core offers effective soundproofing
  • High durability and impact resistance in high traffic areas
  • Longevity and low maintenance

Common applications:

  • Apartment entry doors
  • Common area doors
  • Service and utility rooms
  • Garage or parking access
